Concrete Screen
Light Technology
The executive project carried out in conjunction with the Juan Trias de Bes studio for the Research and Translational Surgical Innovation Centre (CRIQT) of the Clínic Foundation offered the perfect framework to develop an innovative idea: to turn a prefabricated concrete cladding into a multimedia screen using an integrated LED system. A unique façade with personality, reflecting the values of the centre.
The Concrete Screen is a unique façade with personality that takes advantage of solar energy and regulates insulation and is energy efficient through a precisely determined proportion of the holes. With simple programming, different messages are created which ‘enriches’ the facade of this research centre.
It is interesting to highlight the users’ perspective from inside the building to the outside. According to the proportions of the gaps and the depth of the façade, each modular unit offers varying degrees of landscape for the user, fragments that enrich the interior research environment.
The panels: They are designed as welcoming and promotional screens for the building, made from prefabricated Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC), with a customised mould.
- The lighting system: Based on independent RGB-type luminaires capable of displaying images by working as a set of pixels on building façades. Manufactured in an anodised aluminium casing with a polycarbonate front and an impact resistant diffuser with double UV protection.
Installation: Requires point-to-point power and data connection at each luminaire. Data management is controlled by a PWM controller. Its high luminous intensity allows images to be visible during the day (even with direct sunlight) and at night. To compensate for the contrast the screen self-regulates itself based on pre-programmed time settings.
LED TECHNOLOGY
All the advantages of LED technology: efficiency, resistance and savings.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Use of solar energy, regulation of insulation and energy efficiency by means of a precisely determined proportion and density of the holes.
DESIGN
A design that gives personality and character to the exterior of the building.
FEELING
A façade that provides visual emotions through a rich, diverse and dynamic language.
