Biopol'H, a biomedical and biotechnological cluster made up of health institutions and companies, commissioned us to explore what the optimum building and building site for a research centre should be like. This gave us the opportunity to research, analyse and parameterise the factors that would guarantee the best performance for a centre of these characteristics.
Is it possible to establish the parameters that guarantee the construction of an optimal research centre? [YES]
A number of essential factors must be taken into account to ensure a successful outcome of the design and construction of laboratories and research centres. From choosing the site to the functional layout of the laboratory; everything has an influence, everything adds or subtracts. In order to guarantee the successful design and construction of this type of building, we have studied the following aspects: structure typology, span, building installation concept, and circulations; depending on the site: façades, standard modules and extensions.
