NEW PRIMARY CARE CENTER SANT JOSEP - LA FARGA, L’HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT
Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona (Spain)
The New Primary Care Center Sant Josep – La Farga aims to create a functional and human-centered healthcare space designed to strengthen primary care in Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The design responds to the immediate urban context, integrating with the diversity of volumes and heights in the surrounding area. To the south, the building opens with a stepped facade that connects with a future park and lower buildings, while on its lateral facade, it distances itself from a tall party wall to create an intermediate space filled with natural light and vegetation.
The building features two strategically designed courtyards: a cold courtyard located along the facade adjacent to the neighboring building's party wall, providing shade and vegetation to regulate temperature in summer, and a central courtyard with a greenhouse-like character that provides warmth in winter. Both courtyards not only optimize thermal conditions but also enrich the user experience by offering welcoming, bright spaces connected to nature.
This approach combines functionality and sustainability, creating a pleasant environment for both patients and healthcare staff.
