Chuquisaca Hospital
Chuquisaca (Bolivia)
The Chuquisaca Hospital has the potential of being a benchmark for Bolivian public health care. The design enables the best possible operation of the services required in the current functional plan and with the versatility to adapt to future extensions. The building aims to evoke the sinuosity of the neighbouring mountains through the curves of its corners, but it's designed in white, an expression of medicine and technology.
The hospital is characterised by a large entrance hall at different heights which plays with the protruding volumes, the different window heights and the position of the slats, without losing the complexity of its concrete structure. To ensure that both public and technical circulations are optimal, the entrances have been placed in the centre of the building so that the different flows can be distributed to the vertical communication cores.
