Clínica Creu Blanca Extension
Barcelona (Spain)
The project involved the extension of Clínica CreuBlanc’s headquarters, a tower initially built as the home of Isidra Pons de Pascual in 1920. It's a construction which, due to its location, is of great importance as a visual landmark in the area, especially after the opening of Avinguda Foix, from where the impressive retaining wall of exposed brick and stone can be seen, crowned by a continuous balustrade. Right behind this existing façade the three-storey extension was built, all of them below ground level with respect to the Paseo Reina Elisenda, but at street level with respect to the access to the new volume from Avenida J.V. Foix. The extension includes a car park floor that contributes to improving accessibility to the clinic, as well as a floor dedicated to outpatient consultations, with approximately twenty new consultations, and another that means an extension of the surgical block, doubling the number of operating theatres to eight.
