The proposal for the extension of Dr. Trueta Hospital’s main building was to create a new volume to house the extension of the Surgical area, the ICO Oncology Day Hospital and a Reserve Area. The project aims to create a building that is respectful and integrated within the general image of a benchmark hospital in Catalonia.

At the same time, and in line with PMMT's architecture, the proposal emphasised on creating a functional, flexible and economical facility, both in its construction and maintenance, and not losing sight of providing efficiency in space and energy. For example, we can achieve high environmental performance by maximising the entrance which will increase natural light and cross ventilation.
