Llançà Fire Station
Llançà, Girona (Spain)
It is a compact two-storey building with a basement of rectangular proportions, arranged on its long side parallel to the longitudinal direction of the plot, which is positioned as close as possible to the northern boundary in order to free up a pocket of space in front of the building for the fire engines to come in and out, as well as the sports ground and practice areas. It is also separated from this northern boundary by 5 metres to allow access to the staff car park. The project is structured in two clearly differentiated functional areas: the staff quarters (clean area) and the vehicle and equipment area (dirty area). The project aims to coexist with the surrounding landscape in a respectful way, integrating itself but without failing to fulfil the role of a landmark public building that this type of construction should have.
