Hospital Evangèlic de Barcelona
Barcelona (Spain)
The future socio-sanitary center, Hospital Evangèlic de Barcelona, is located in the Sant Martí district, accessible from Ciutat de Granada street. Within the site, there is a façade listed in the Department of Historical and Artistic Architectural Heritage of the Barcelona City Council.
The building is set back from the existing façade to ensure a proper dialogue between the existing element and the future hospital. Additionally, it is set back from the first floor onwards at the rear to ensure a minimum separation and privacy between the future building's façade and the existing building located at Plaça Dolors Piera.
The new hospital consists of 6 floors of intermediate care hospitalization with 190 beds for convalescent patients, subacute care, palliative care needs, and patients with neurodegenerative and psychogeriatric diseases. The hospitalization units will implement the new double room model that enhances patient well-being: the PMMT Comfort Room, The Empathetic Room.
Thus, the Hospital Evangèlic meets the city's need for a new socio-sanitary center serving the Ciutat Vella and Sant Martí districts. With these facilities, the hospital will be able to serve 80% of patients from the Litoral Mar Integrated Health Area who currently have to travel to other areas of Barcelona.
In addition to addressing a deficit in healthcare infrastructure in the 22@ district, it will contribute to the urban regeneration of the area with a building of significant character.
