NEW BUILDING FOR OUTPATIENTS AT VALL D'HEBRON HOSPITAL
Barcelona (Spain)
The proposal presents a building that blends in with the surroundings of the city, freeing up the ground floor to make the building permeable to the city, creating a large covered public space. The part of the ground floor that is built up has a full-height glazed enclosure, making it more transparent. The west façade is closely connected to the Vall d'Hebron avenue and the hospital itself, with a more urban character. Natural ceramic tones are chosen in relation to the building it faces. In contrast, the east façade, related to a park that will be placed right in front of it, with a façade with green tones, with glazed ceramic on the lower floors, which gradually fades towards the higher floors until it reaches the natural ceramic tones that we find on the opposite façade.
Due to the height of PB+10 and 3 basements, it is suggested to group the floors formally in pairs, reducing the visual impact of the building, making it appear to be lower in height. The inclusion of a central atrium also on the façade breaks with the continuity of the building and makes it appear less monotonous.
