NEW CORACHAN HEART UNIT
Barcelona (Spain)
Within the framework of the renovation and improvement of Clínica Corachan, we carried out the complete refurbishment of the area where the old Lenox traumatology consulting rooms were located. Once these consultations had been moved, a space of 250 m2 was made available. This space was allocated to the new Corachan Heart Unit, as part of the renovation plan for the entire ground floor, where the Diagnostic Imaging areas are located.
The unit is located close to the Emergency Department, as it will be used for both scheduled and emergency cardiac interventions.
The new service has a hybrid room equipped for diagnostic coronary angiography and coronary intervention, and another room for electrophysiology. This second room is planned and prepared to be converted into a second interventional radiology room in the future. The new service has a preparation and resuscitation area with a capacity for 2 patients, allowing the entire interventional process to run smoothly.
The hybrid room has an adjoining control room, as well as support spaces for daily storage and an exit for dirty material, which allows for the segregation of material circuits. This room has an ISO 6 environment categorisation. It has finishes designed to achieve the highest levels of hygiene and easy cleaning, such as continuous vinyl flooring, with half-round skirting boards, as well as all its vertical glass cladding, including the cabinets, which are integrated in the same plane, avoiding corners and irregular shapes within the room.
