Residential Care Home In Girona

This project is located in Girona and involves a refurbishment that transforms aan industrial building to a residential care home for the elderly of around 3,400 m2.

The early 20th century industrial textile complex opens up to the natural environment on the banks of the River Ter while also being located close to an urban environment. This makes it possible to design a facility that combines proximity to an urban centre with the tranquility of a rural environment.

The building, once restored and adapted to its future use, will offer all the comforts of a state-of-the-art building with the romanticism of the beginning of the last century, with its large vaulted spaces and the warmth of the restored materials.

At an urban level, the new care home for the elderly has an entrance from a large square with alternating paths, living spaces and green areas that accompany the users. The image of the building is respected with its original materials in full harmony with the scenic environment.

The building will be developed on 3 different levels: each one providing single and double rooms, for a total of 100 residents, and all the necessary support spaces. The main hall, located in a large double-height space, and a large lounge and leisure room for the residents highlight the industrial architecture and the brick vaults that characterises the building. 

The brickwork, combined with the warmth of the wood of the windows and the appropriate equipment and furnishings give rise to noble and elegant spaces, worthy of the best of hotel environments
