Santa Fe de Bogotá Hospital
Bogotá (Colombia)
The Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation is a benchmark hospital in Colombia. The project was designed to expand the existing hospital with a new building that would house the entire functional programme, including hospitalisation units, ICU, operating theatres, diagnostic imaging, outpatient area, logistics, etc. The hospital sews the existing building with the new building by means of a large boulevard and, using a footbridge that crosses the street, it sews itself with the urban park that gives access to the hospital. The volume of the new building is adapted to the complex area available within the plot of the existing hospital. The façade is made of red ceramic, referencing itself to the rest of the existing buildings of the current hospital but formalising them as vertical slats that help provide solar control with the same system for all orientations. This façade is marked, in the form of a crack, by the boulevard of the access floor which is formalised as an arcaded square.
