UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY CONSULTANCY FOR AMB BUS STOPS
Barcelona (Spain)
In 2019 the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), through the Public Space department, carried out an assessment of the state of accessibility of 32 bus stops and their immediate urban environment within the metropolitan area in Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Tiana, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, El Prat de Llobregat and Sant Adrià de Besòs.
Aware of the existence of physical and communicative architectural barriers, this department decided to contract our consultancy services to determine the level of universal accessibility of the stops and their surroundings and to expand the proposed measures of improvement, with the aim of taking all users in consideration, whatever their circumstances in the use of the built environment.
The PMMT technical team, using the Clear Code Architecture method, analysed the existing level of universal accessibility at the 32 stops, in order to subsequently propose the necessary measures of improvement to increase this level. This analysis is included in the report "Universal accessibility audit, analysis and areas for improvement for the 32 AMB bus stops", delivered to the Barcelona Metropolitan Area in August 2021.
