UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY CONSULTANCY FOR EL RETIRO PARK
Madrid (Spain)
The El Retiro Park is the most important green lung of Madrid's city centre, both in terms of its size and its wealth of vegetation. This garden, classified as an Asset of Cultural Interest, is one of the most important public parks in the city, a place for culture, leisure and sport.
Aware of the existence of physical and communicative architectural barriers that hinder its enjoyment by all users, the Madrid City Council, together with CESYT, decided to contract our consultancy services to determine the level of universal accessibility of the park's entrances and main routes, as well as the accesses to the major monuments that make up the park.
PMMT's technical team, using the Clear Code Architecture® method, assessed the existing level of universal accessibility in these spaces, in order to subsequently propose the necessary improvement actions to increase this level. This analysis is included in the report "Diagnosis in universal accessibility, analysis and areas for improvement of the Retiro Park", delivered to Madrid City Council in December 2020.
