UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY CONSULTANCY FOR PARKS IN L'HOSPITALET
Hospitalet de Llobregat (Spain)
Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council, an institution that has been committed to universal accessibility for years, commissioned, through the Public Space, Urban Planning and Sustainability Services department, the Clear Code Architecture® consultancy for four playgrounds (located in Plaça Puig i Gairalt, Parc de la Serp, Plaça Francesc Macià i Llussà and Parc de Les Planes), Carrer Aprestadora and Pasatge Vic. In the case of the playgrounds, the level of universal accessibility was analysed and evaluated taking into account their dimensions and the elements they are made up of, such as the paving used, access gates, existing children's playground equipment and benches.
In the case of the streets, aspects such as lighting levels, characteristics of the routes, the state of the pavements, signposting of obstacles, characteristics and design of stairs and ramps, as well as the existing fittings were analysed. In all the spaces, the signage system implemented was analysed. Finally, a series of proposals for improvement were made, with the aim of increasing the level of universal accessibility and thus turning these spaces into spaces for all.
This consultancy is included in the report ‘Universal accessibility audit. Public Spaces, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat", delivered to L'Hospitalet City Council in April 2019.
