UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY CONSULTANCY FOR THE UN OFFICES IN QUITO
Quito (Ecuador)
For this Clear Code Architecture® consultancy, PMMT's team analysed the universal accessibility characteristics of each of the public and private spaces of the preliminary project for the new United Nations offices in Quito (Ecuador) and its immediate surroundings, located in Eko-Park Tower 4.
After this study, a series of measures were proposed to improve the universal accessibility of the urbanisation (characteristics of itineraries and rest areas, signposting and pedestrian crossings...); the parking area; the main access (characteristics and signposting); the reception (located within the accessible route); the stairs, ramps and lifts; the bathrooms; the offices and meeting rooms (dimensions, circulation itineraries, characteristics of the furniture...), as well as the general aspects to be taken into account such as pavements, walls, doors and windows.
In addition, the building's signage and signposting system was especially developed, providing guidelines on the characteristics that both the signage (directories and information points, directional signs and destination confirmations) and the signposting and guidance elements should have.
