NEW SENIOR LIVING RESIDENCE IN MADRID
MADRID (Spain)
The object of the competition is the construction of a new senior living building in Madrid. The proposal presented has 3 main objectives which are to create a new flexible building both in the housing units and in the design of the facilities, to focus the design on people and their wellbeing and focus on financial resources, both energetic and material.
The grouping of housing units in this new building comes from the need to make the most of the irregular geometry of the plot and to bring together the following qualities: to have privacy between the housing units, to have a south-facing garden for natural lighting throughout the day, to provide easy connectivity with another existing residential building and to formally integrate the volumes with those of the latter.
The proposal offers privacy to people in their homes and offers common spaces that favour socialisation. The access corridor to the dwellings becomes a succession of squares that favour the relationship between neighbours, as do the old farmyards, which end up becoming an extension of the interior space of the flats.
The structure and distribution of the flats allows them to be adapted to different uses in the event of needing to modify the typology of the building, being able to become a private home, a temporary stay or a residential home.
